What Is Athos About?
The premise of Athos without spoilers.
The Athos peninsula in Greece remains one of Europe's last hidden communities, home to over 2000 monks isolated from the outside world. Women are prohibited, and access is limited to workers and pilgrims who secure a visa. This unique documentary explores the "Autonomous Monastic State of the Holy Mountain," attracting those seeking meaning beyond modern life. Through the perspectives of three monks, including the contemplative hermit Father Galaktion and the poetic cook Father Epiphanios, the film reveals the diverse lives and spiritual journeys within this secluded sanctuary.
