Ashes (2014): Cast

This double video projection honors a young Caribbean man named Ashes. The artist initially filmed him in Grenada in 2002, but the footage was initially unused. Years later, learning of his death, the artist created this tribute, combining earlier and new material. One screen depicts Ashes full of life, sailing towards the horizon, while the other shows the construction of his tomb and a memorial plaque. A soundtrack features local men recounting the story of his death.
