Little Marie is reduced to a servant by her cruel stepmother while her sister Clothilde enjoys every privilege. When Prince Leonhard and his friend Peter arrive in disguise, they hand Clothilde an invitation to a masked ball. Marie falls for the prince and begs to attend, but her stepmother refuses and only outfits her daughter. A magical tree growing on her mother’s grave miraculously provides a stunning gown, allowing Marie to dazzle the prince at the ball. She flees before midnight as the spell ends, leaving the prince to wonder if true love can blossom with a “Cinderella.”
