Arrow to the Sun 1973

Long ago, the Lord of the Sun plants a spark of life into the Pueblo, and a young woman gives birth to an unnamed son, known as The Boy. As he grows into adolescence, he is ridiculed by the other boys for not having a father. Disheartened, he leaves the Pueblo to seek his father.

During his journey, he asks a farmer and a sculptress for help, but both refuse. Yet an elderly arrowsmith senses his connection to the Sun and agrees to lend aid. The arrowsmith transforms the Boy into an arrow and launches him toward the Sun.

Arriving in the Sun, the Boy meets his father, the Lord, who is skeptical of his identity. To confirm who he is, the Lord sets four trials: the Kiva of Lions, the Kiva of Serpents, the Kiva of Bees, and the Kiva of Lightning. The Boy endures the final challenge, the Kiva of Lightning, and returns with newfound powers drawn from the Sun.

Having proven himself, the Lord acknowledges him as his son and sends him back to Earth to bring the Sun’s spirit into the world of men. The Pueblo welcomes the Boy home with the Dance of Life, a jubilant celebration that marks his return and the renewed connection between the sun, life, and the people.
