The story unfolds with Tomaz, played by Alec Secareanu, an ex-soldier who uncovers an amulet at a secluded outpost in the woods. This site marks the place where he once served in his war-torn homeland before risking everything to escape to London. Haunted by memories, Tomaz grapples with flashbacks of his time with Mirian, a woman whom he had spared when he caught her attempting to cross the border.

In the bustling streets of London, Tomaz struggles to make ends meet as a day laborer. He finds temporary refuge in a run-down building shared with other refugees. However, disaster strikes when the building is set ablaze, forcing him to flee into the night. Overcome by smoke, he collapses in an alley where he is discovered by Sister Claire, a compassionate nun. After a visit to the hospital, she introduces him to Magda, portrayed by Carla Juri, who requires assistance with her home obligations as she tends to her ailing mother.

Upon their first encounter, Magda makes it clear that she is not thrilled about Tomaz’s presence, and he also hesitates to remain. Despite the initial tension, they gradually adapt to each other’s company, with Tomaz eager to help with repairs around the house. In an unfortunate incident while fixing the plumbing, he discovers a live bat obstructing the toilet, which he kills—only to find that it bites him in the process.

As their relationship evolves, Tomaz becomes aware of Magda’s mother, who is hidden away in the attic in a state of severe illness. During a disturbing encounter, she attacks Magda, inspiring Tomaz’s instinct to protect her. In a moment of chase, he takes Magda out to dance, fulfilling her wish for a night of freedom.

Their joy quickly turns sinister when they return home to find Magda’s mother giving birth to grotesque bat-like creatures. In desperation, Tomaz consults Sister Claire, who reveals that the mother is a demon that both Magda and she have battled for years. Fueled by determination, Tomaz vows to vanquish the demon, leading to a violent confrontation where he stabs it heedlessly. However, the demon retaliates, only to be halted by Magda.

As the tension escalates, Tomaz experiences troubling flashbacks of Mirian. In these memories, he develops feelings for her, encouraging her to remain with him until the war’s end and risking everything to guard her from other soldiers. The narrative takes a dark turn when he discovers Mirian’s intent to leave and reunite with her daughter, which leads to an unforgivable act of violence against her.

In a chilling climax, Tomaz awakens with renewed resolve, ready to protect Magda at all costs. After a fierce encounter resulting in the beheading of the demon, he learns the terrifying truth: the demon was housed in the former occupant of the home, a man notorious for having killed his children. With Sister Claire at his side, he contemplates who should be his guardian, ultimately naming Magda. As the story progresses, Tomaz falls ill, and in a shocking twist, he too gives birth to one of those grotesque creatures.

The narrative concludes as Magda arrives at a convenience store, where Mirian works behind the counter. Ensuring that Mirian is safe, Magda drives off, hiding Tomaz beneath a blanket in the back, setting the stage for the chilling realities that continue to unfold.
