Fausto Elio Germano opens Alaska, a disco, after a violent life and a recent release from prison. He is in love with Nadine Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, a French former Milan model who has fallen on hard times because Fausto used her savings to invest in Alaska. The club is doing well, with Sandro Valerio Binasco a man Fausto met through Nadine helping drive the business forward. Yet Nadine’s trust fractures as she learns about the misused savings, and she betrays him by sleeping with her boss, an act that leaves Fausto furious and wary of Nadine.

Later, Fausto begins dating Francesca Elena Radonicich, a woman from a wealthy family who gives him a path to power. Through her father, he has the opportunity to run an elegant hotel. At the same time, Sandro, feeling betrayed by Fausto, loses all his money from betting and, in despair, takes his own life. Faced with these events, Fausto tries to mend things with Nadine while still nurturing his plan to marry Francesca and build a hotel empire.

Yet Nadine’s anger lingers, and during a quarrel with her new employer, she kills him, ending up in prison. With Nadine behind bars, Fausto appears to abandon Francesca and instead visits Nadine every week, waiting for the end of her sentence and the chance to reconcile or move forward.
