Mr. Mallik Tariq Anam Khan lives in a house about a hundred years old, tucked into the old part of Dhaka city. Surrounding him, real estate developers circle with plans to demolish the aging residence and rise a new apartment complex in its place. This looming offer puts Mr. Mallik in a difficult dilemma, torn between preserving a family home and embracing a modern upgrade that promises new life for the neighborhood. The tension between tradition and progress quietly threads through his decision, weighing memories against money.
Meanwhile, his daughter Yasmin Bilkis Sathi Ruba returns from the United States with her six-year-old son, having endured abuse from her husband. Hearing about the demolition proposal from her father, she opposes it with fierce resolve, determined to protect the space that holds her past and her child’s future. Her homecoming reopens old wounds while reigniting a stubborn commitment to stay rooted in the place she once left.
Ruba moves from room to room, letting the familiar echoes of the house drift around her as memories rise with each doorway and corridor. On a balcony, she spots the neighbor Kislu’s red underwear, a curious detail attached to a man who, as people say, wears a different color of underwear each day of the week. Kislu Humayun Faridi becomes a focal point of intrigue and warmth for her, and a fragile bond begins to form between them amid the unfolding drama.
Suleman Fazlur Rahman Babu, a man who once killed someone, now works as a security guard at Mr. Mallik’s house. He frequently finds himself clashing with local goons, adding a layer of danger and unpredictability to the community around the old residence. His presence casts a shadow over the pursuit of power, loyalty, and protection within the family’s circle.
As the tension between family duty and personal desire grows, Mr. Mallik learns more about the relationship between Ruba and Kislu and resolves to separate them to safeguard his daughter. This strategic move tests loyalties and stirs resentment, setting the stage for a confrontation between safeguarding a home and honoring a growing, unlikely connection that challenges the status quo.
The plot takes another sharp turn when Kislu is murdered, turning intimate family struggles into a broader, more dangerous mystery. With the murder, the stakes rise as secrets surface and everyone’s motives come into question. The story then threads together memory, protection, and a community’s pressure for change, forcing each character to decide what they are willing to lose in order to secure what they hold dear.
