In 1980, the influential and affluent Águila family gathers to celebrate the 88th birthday of their missing and long-presumed dead patriarch, Daniel Águila Fernando Poe Jr.. His son, Mari Christopher De Leon, a shrewd business titan and former Senator, travels the countryside after receiving news that Daniel may still be alive, hoping to locate him and uncover the family’s hidden past. As Mari searches, the Águila family saga begins to unfold, revealing how power, loyalty, and injustice have shaped them over the years.

It all begins when Daniel’s father, Artemio Dave Brodett, an officer in the Revolutionary Army, dies by treachery. His mother, Isabel Teodoro Amalia Fuentes, is raped by that same traitor, Simeon Garrido Eddie Garcia, and later marries him for convenience. As a young soldier accompanying Simeon to Mindanao, Daniel witnesses the brutality of conquest as Simeon and some Americans ruthlessly seize Muslim tribal lands. The weight of these early acts and betrayals shadows every choice he makes later in life.

Daniel’s life becomes a tapestry of complexity and conflict. His affair with a Muslim woman, Farida Sandy Andolong, results in a son, Osman. He later marries a lawyer named Sally Charo Santos-Concio, who falls ill and dies, leaving a mark of loss and resilience.
