What Is Agent of Influence About?
The premise of Agent of Influence without spoilers.
Based on Ian Adams’s novel, the story tracks the suspicious death of Canadian diplomat John Watkins, former ambassador to Moscow and close friend of Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson. In October 1964, at the Cold War’s peak, the RCMP—pressured by the CIA—kidnap him, interrogate him in a hotel, and he dies. The official obituary claims a heart attack at a farewell dinner with friends.
