Father Mathew Pieris Alston Koch is a celebrated Anglican priest in his hometown, renowned for his work and the calm authority he projects. After the daily communion, his wife Eunice Pieris introduces a very young couple who have joined their church: Daphne Reynolds and her husband Randy Reynolds, a skilled sportsman who has recently started a new life with his wife. Daphne had previously worked as a typist and a telephone operator before marriage, and the pair bring a note of youthful vitality to the community. Pieris also befriends their Cricket Captain Steven, who is training at the Police Academy and becomes a quiet ally to the couple.

Soon after, Pieris proposes a practical arrangement: Daphne should work as his secretary. The arrangement is arranged the next day, and Daphne moves into their home, assisting with typing the manuscript Pieris is writing and settling into her role with him. Randy joins the Cricket team and, in conversations with Steven, often speaks about how Pieris has helped them achieve some financial stability during tough times. There are small, pointed gestures that hint at a growing closeness between Daphne and the priest, and one evening, Daphne thanks Pieris and, in a subtle, provocative way, suggests that if he ever needs anything, he should not hesitate to ask.

Pieris, widely known in town as an exorcist who is called upon when teenage girls and distressed parents report troubling behavior, continues his routine while the relationship with Daphne deepens. One night, after returning home late from a visit to a girl who didn’t respond to treatment, Pieris observes Daphne briefly while she’s naked, frightened and covering herself. The moment intensifies as Daphne closes the office door, and what begins as a frightened glance turns into a dangerous flirtation. A nearby sister, June, who teaches a group of children in an adjacent room, notices the door and the window being shut and grows suspicious of what she suspects is happening behind the scenes.

As the affair unfolds, Pieris urges Eunice to visit their children in London, while Randy remains away on Cricket duties with Steven on frequent trips. On a rainy night, after another exorcism with a troubled girl, the two adults allow the relationship to become more open and openly passionate. The affair grows more serious, and Pieris begins to perceive those around him who might stand in the way of his growing bond with Daphne and the comfort she provides him. Eunice, hearing rumors of the affair, becomes increasingly anxious about the safety of their family’s reputation as she looks after their children miles away in London.

Randy’s health deteriorates; he is diagnosed with severe hypoglycemia, and Pieris and Daphne visit him at the hospital, where his condition worsens before he dies. Eunice returns home and also falls ill in a concerning pattern, slipping into a coma after a rapid decline in health. Doctors treat her with dextrose, but her response is inconsistent, and suspicions begin to rise. Dr. Terrance, who initially treated Eunice, seeks a second opinion from Dr. Mohan, who recalls a similar case from a few months earlier involving a non-diabetic patient who suffered severe hypoglycemia and died after similar treatment. The pattern appears connected to the priest’s circle, and their suspicion falls on Pieris.

District Medical Officer Dr. Ferry passes the information to the Criminal Investigation Department, and Detective Cruse is assigned to the case. The investigation hinges on circumstantial evidence that ties Pieris to the patients’ illnesses and the suspicious deaths. As Eunice dies and the case deepens, Steven—who has known the family for years—comes forward with crucial scientific insight that supports the growing hypothesis of foul play. His information corroborates the medical team’s concerns and provides the investigative lead needed to pursue a formal case.

With the mounting evidence and testimonies from colleagues, friends, and those who observed the priest’s conduct, Pieris is arrested and charged with double murder. The courtroom becomes focused on findings that reveal a deliberate pattern: Pieris and Daphne allegedly administered Euglocon-laced chicken and beef liver to Randy Reynolds and Eunice Pieris, with the deaths not being caused by the previously misattributed pancreatic cancer. The trial unfolds with testimony that lays bare a calculated scheme to exploit a position of trust within the church and kitchen, mixing spiritual authority with dangerous manipulation.

In a detailed legal battle, the prosecution presents a case that Pieris acted with intent to harm those who stood in the way of his relationship with Daphne. The evidence, including the medical patterns and the testimonies of investigators and witnesses, leads to a conviction. Father Mathew Pieris is found guilty of murder and is sentenced to death, bringing a chilling end to a story that unravels the dangers of power misused within a position of religious influence and the devastating impact it can have on a family and community.
