The film centers on two college students, Karthik and Shwetha, who come from upper-middle-class families and fall in love, navigating a relationship that feels true and urgent against the backdrop of their social world.

Their romance is challenged by Shwetha’s friend Genni, who warns her against prioritizing love over exams and future plans. Despite Genni’s concerns, Shwetha remains deeply drawn to [Karthik], and the couple continues to meet in secret, keeping the relationship hidden from their families. The tension peaks when Genni, worried for Shwetha, reveals the relationship to Shwetha’s mother, sparking a chain of reactions that put the couple on the defensive.

In their hidden meetings, the two lovers grow bolder, and during a weekend getaway they have sex. Within weeks, Shwetha suspects she might be pregnant after missing her period and confides in [Karthik] and a few close friends. On their own idea, they attempt to abort the fetus, pretending to be a married couple. Yet the doctor becomes suspicious, and they are turned away. Desperate to find another way, they struggle to get help, while Shwetha’s mother, already suspicious due to Genni’s warning, discovers the truth and drama erupts in full force.

After the initial upheaval, Shwetha’s parents push for a marriage to shield the family from further disgrace, while Karthik’s father refuses, worried about his own reputation. The lovers still dream of eloping, but Shwetha falters at the last moment, and a string of arguments widens the rift between the two families. When a wedding seems possible only if Shwetha aborts the fetus, she refuses, fearing that the decision could be reversed later. Insults fly, ego clashes erupt, and the couple’s hopes crumble as the relationship dissolves.

Months later, a baby boy is born, and Shwetha’s father leaves him in an orphanage. Two years pass, and Shwetha prepares to engage to someone else, while [Karthik] is seen in a coffee shop flirting with another girl. The child grows up in the orphanage, missing the warmth and guidance of parental love as the adults around him move on with their lives.
