A Snow White Christmas 2018

After vanquishing the Wicked Queen, Snow White Michelle Randolph and her husband King Charming now rule the land of Noel with a steady, if busy, grace. They share a teenage daughter, Snow White, whose snow-white hair marks her as part of the royal line even as she longs for a little mischief and meaning beyond palace life. To celebrate the season, the royal family arranges a Christmas Eve winter sports festival, inviting everyone to join in the merriment. Among the participants is Grunyon, a well meaning but bumbling dwarf who is a close friend of Snow White.

The princess hints at a Christmas wish that could bring joy to all: she wants to transform the deserted mountaintop castle—left behind by the original Snow White’s elusive, evil stepmother, the Wicked Queen—into a bright playhouse for the village children. The idea catches fire, and the family begins to dream aloud about reviving the old stronghold.

Unknown to them, the Wicked Queen has lingered in suspended time, trapped in ice near the abandoned fortress. When a growing melt releases her, she returns to her castle and discovers that two Snow Whites, more beautiful than she expected, now walk the land. Fueled by jealousy and fury, she conjures an icy storm that envelops Noel in glittering frost, narrowly missing the second Snow White and freezing much of the kingdom. The queen’s plan is ruthless: Snow White must be found and the family must be saved before they are turned into ice statues.

Grunyon, spared from the worst of the freeze, leads Snow White into the forest as a means of escape. They find themselves in the Warm Valley, where a giant garden appears and two towering guardians, Finicky and Corny, mistake them for bugs and threaten to squash them. Snow White’s tears soften the moment, and Grunyon’s rebuke prompts the giants to pause. They apologize and sit down to sing their stories, introducing themselves along with five more cousins—Thinker, Hicker, Tiny, Weeper, and Brawny—who are revealed to be kin to the Seven Dwarfs. Moved by the newcomers’ tale, the giants offer shelter in their cottage.

Meanwhile, the Wicked Queen learns that Snow White survived. She first tries to eat the girl by transforming herself into a giant rat, but is thwarted when one of the giants shooes her away. She then escalates her plan, melting the ice to unleash a flood that threatens to drown the young princess. Brawny, quick and sturdy, saves Snow White from the rising water, and the giants decide to keep Snow White safe at their cottage, with Hicker positioned as a guard. The Queen shifts tactics once more, turning two vultures into monstrous diversions to distract Hicker, and then disguises herself as an elderly, “sister of the giants” in order to mislead Snow White with a scent from a poisoned flower—an old trick she once used against the first Snow White.

But the giants catch on when Hicker’s hiccups reveal the ruse, and they race back to the cottage to defend Snow White. The Wicked Queen, nothing if not relentless, unleashes more danger from the castle: she blasts lightning in a bid to stop the intruders, but Brawny’s strength proves too much for her magic. The queen then summons seven demons to battle the giants, only to have the ground tremble as Hicker’s hiccups shake the realm again, triggering an earthquake that causes the castle to crumble.

With the Magic Mirror—the source of the queen’s power—shattered, the Wicked Queen dissolves and is erased from the story. The curse she placed on Noel breaks at last, and the ice gradually thaws, releasing the townspeople from their frozen sleep in time for Christmas Eve. Grunyon and the giants bring Snow White home, cradled in a rose-covered coffin, where a kiss on the cheeks revives her. Joy spreads through Noel as the kingdom wakes to warmth and light. The Wicked Queen’s fortress is left in ruins, yet Grunyon’s friends reveal that they have built a new castle for the children, a safer home where the magic of their shared winter can live on even after Snow White’s long dream is fulfilled.
