In Paris, two young lovers, Lisa and Simon, split when he must flee the country, leaving her heartbroken and adrift. Heartbroken, Lisa soon meets an older, wealthy man, Léo, and the path forward feels suddenly different, shaded by money and ambition as much as by longing.
There are three locales that thread through the story: Paris, Mauritius and Geneva. The narrative moves with Lisa as she shifts from being the girlfriend of a drug dealer to the wife of a powerful, affluent businessman, and then to alternating roles between them while carrying on an affair with Simon. The glamorous, sunlit backdrop of Mauritius sits in stark contrast to her inner misery, while Geneva adds a sting of distance and propriety to the web of loyalties and betrayals.
