John Erick Dowdle, born on December 9, 1972, is a renowned American film director and screenwriter, famed especially for his work on horror films. He commonly collaborates with his brother, Drew Dowdle, who often takes up the role of a producer and co-screenwriter with him. John's early life was spent in the Twin Cities of Minnesota, followed by a multitude of educational transitions. He attended St. Thomas Academy, a military-styled, all-boys, Catholic high school before moving to Iowa City, Iowa to join the University of Iowa.
