Wayne Elliot Knight (born August 7, 1955) is an American actor, well known for his diverse roles in popular television shows, movies, and his work in theater. Wayne was born in New York City to Grace (née Monti) and William Knight and grew up in Cartersville, Georgia where his father worked in the textile industry. Wayne was a lineman on his high school's football team and attended the University of Georgia but left one credit shy of completing his degree to pursue his acting career. He later fulfilled his degree requirements in 2008. His acting career started with an internship at the Barter Theatre in Abingdon, Virginia. He then gained reputation as an Equity actor and took his first steps on Broadway. He worked as a private investigator for five years and appeared in various films like Dirty Dancing (1987), Born on the Fourth of July (1989), JFK (1991), and Basic Instinct (1992). He played Dennis Nedry in Jurassic Park (1993), and Newman on NBC's sitcom, Seinfeld (1992-1998). His voice roles include Mr. Blik in Catscratch, Tantor in Tarzan, Al McWhiggin in Toy Story 2. Knight continues to be a powerful presence in the entertainment industry, serving in several different genres from comedy to drama to animation. In his personal life, he married makeup artist Paula Sutor and later married his second wife, Clare de Chenu, together they have a son, Liam.
