Vicente Gil

Vicente Gil Ros, born on 5 January 1976 in Carpesa, Valencia, Spain, is a distinguished Spanish Paralympic swimmer who has competed in the S5 classification. His career spans more than a decade, beginning with his debut at the 2000 Sydney Paralympic Games where he first represented Spain on the international stage. Over the years, Gil has become renowned for his expertise in breaststroke events, particularly the SB3 50‑meter breaststroke, in which he earned silver medals at both the 2004 Athens and 2008 Beijing Paralympics, showcasing remarkable consistency and determination. In addition to his individual success, he contributed to Spain's medal tally by securing a bronze medal in the 4 × 50 meter 20‑point medley relay at the 2008 Games, highlighting his versatility as a team athlete. Beyond the Paralympics, Gil claimed titles at the World Championships, winning the 50‑meter breaststroke SB3 in 2002 in Mar del Plata and repeating his triumph in 2006 in Durban, cementing his status as a world‑class competitor.
