What's After the Movie
Randolph Severn 'Trey' Parker III (born October 19, 1969) is an American actor, animator, writer, producer, director, and musician. Known for co-creating popular television series South Park and the Broadway musical The Book of Mormon with his creative partner Matt Stone. Trevor's interest in movies and music started at a young age, leading him to study film at the University of Colorado Boulder where he met Stone leading to a long-term creative partnership. Their feature-length musical project together was Cannibal! The Musical (1993). Following the success of South Park, Parker continued to grow his influence across various forms of media, from movies to music and video games. He also ventured into theatrical productions, an endeavor that earned him four Tony Awards and a Grammy Award for The Book of Mormon. He has also received five Primetime Emmy Awards for South Park, with a nomination for an Academy Award for the song 'Blame Canada'.
Parker's versatile and prolific career continues to thrive. In 1992, he founded a production company, the Avenging Conscience, which allowed him to explore multiple artistic directions. The company made its name with Cannibal! The Musical and later the production of Jesus vs. Frosty. South Park, which premiered in 1997 has consistently been popular due to (amongst other things} their unique production process of writing, animating, then broadcasting an entire episode in one week leading to a more spontaneity creative process. South Park has been extended through to 2029 and will include 14 films for the streaming platform Paramount+ in a mega deal signed in 2021.
