Tim Russ

Timothy Darrell Russ, born on June 22, 1956, is best known as an American actor but is also a musician, screenwriter, producer, director and amateur astronomer. He is renowned for his roles as Lieutenant Commander Tuvok on Star Trek: Voyager, Robert Johnson in Crossroads (1986), Casey in East of Hope Street (1998), Frank on Samantha Who?, Principal Franklin on the Nickelodeon sitcom iCarly, and D. C. Montana on The Highwaymen (1987–1988). He has also recently appeared in The Rookie: Feds (2022) and reprised his role as Captain Tuvok on Season 3 of Star Trek: Picard. Russ was born in Washington, D.C., to a government worker mother and a U.S. Air Force officer father. He spent part of his childhood in Turkey and graduated from St. Edward's University with a degree in theater arts. * Russ began his career in 1985, making appearances ranging from The Twilight Zone to comedy film Spaceballs. He soon climbed the career ladder and became involved with the Star Trek franchise as a versatile artist acting, writing, directing, and producing. Apart from acting, Russ is known for co-writing stories and performing voice roles for video games. He directed and starred in the fan series Star Trek: Of Gods and Men and has reprised his voice role as Tuvok in Star Trek Online. Beyond acting, Russ has made a name for himself as a lifelong musician and a keen amateur astronomer. In 2014, he won an Emmy Award for public service ads he did for the FBI's Los Angeles Field Office on intellectual property theft and cyberbullying.
