Born on September 22, 1936, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, he first entered the world of acting as a junior ensemble member at the prestigious Stratford Festival, where he tackled classic Shakespearean roles such as Robin Starveling in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Octavius in Julius Caesar, Ariel in The Tempest, and Malcolm in Macbeth.
