Nadezhda Mikhalkova

Nadezhda Nikitichna Mikhalkova (born September 27, 1986 in Moscow, Russian SFSR) is a prominent Russian actress whose career spans from childhood roles to mature performances in both cinema and television. Born into the illustrious Mikhalkov family, she is the youngest daughter of celebrated actor‑director Nikita Mikhalkov and fashion designer Tatyana Shigaeva, and sister to fellow actors Artyom and Anna, a lineage that has long influenced Russian cultural life. Her first major screen appearance came at the age of six when she portrayed Nadia Kotova in the Academy Award‑winning film Burnt by the Sun, directed by her father, a performance that introduced her to international audiences and earned the film the Grand Prix at Cannes. After a brief episodic role in The Barber of Siberia (1999), she demonstrated versatility by playing twin sisters in the 2000 comedy President and his Granddaughter directed by Tigran Keosayan. In 2008 she graduated from the School of International Journalism at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, combining academic achievement with artistic development. She revisited her iconic character in Burnt by the Sun 2 (2010), portraying a teenage Nadia Kotova, thereby linking the original masterpiece with its contemporary sequel. Beyond film, Nadezhda has appeared in the seventh season of the televised ice‑show competition Ice Age, showcasing her athletic skill and expanding her public persona. Her personal life includes a marriage to director‑producer Rezo Gigineishvili in 2010, with whom she has two children—a daughter born on May 21, 2011, and a son born exactly two years later; the couple divorced in October 2017.
