Michael De Mesa

Michael de Mesa (born Michael Edward Gil Eigenmann on 24 May 1960) is a veteran Filipino actor and director whose career spans over four decades. Born in Manila to celebrated performers Eddie Mesa and Rosemarie Gil, he grew up immersed in a household where the arts were a daily practice, sharing his upbringing with siblings Mark and Cherie Gil, both of whom became prominent actors. Of Swiss, Spanish, and Filipino descent, De Mesa began his on‑screen journey at the tender age of sixteen, debuting in the 1975 film Araw‑araw, Gabi‑gabi before officially entering the professional arena in 1978. His early years were marked by relentless dedication to craft, swiftly earning him roles that showcased his versatility across drama, action, and fantasy genres.
