Maya Sansa

Maya Sansa (born 25 September 1975 in Rome, Italy) is a celebrated Italian actress whose career has been marked by a remarkable blend of artistic daring and emotional depth. Born to an Iranian father and an Italian mother, she grew up in a culturally rich household that fostered a love for storytelling and performance, an influence that later manifested in her nuanced screen presence. At the age of fourteen she began formal acting studies at the prestigious high school “Virgilio” in Rome, demonstrating an early commitment to the craft, and soon after she relocated to London to attend the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where she earned a degree in acting. Her breakout role came when director Marco Bellocchio cast her in La balia (1999), a performance that immediately caught the attention of critics and positioned her as a fresh face in contemporary Italian cinema.
