What Is The First Man About?
The premise of The First Man without spoilers.
Based on an unfinished novel by Albert Camus, the story follows Jacques Comery as he returns to Algeria in 1957, a country still divided between those who wish to remain part of France and those fighting for independence. As civil tensions flare, Jacques is flooded with childhood memories—his mother’s affection, his stern grandmother’s guidance, and the bond with a young Arab boy—forcing him to confront both his personal past and the nation’s turbulent future.
