Matt Salinger

Matthew Douglas Salinger was born on February 13, 1960 in Windsor, Vermont, the son of the celebrated novelist J.D. Salinger and psychologist Alison Claire Douglas. His paternal lineage traces back to Lithuanian‑Jewish ancestors, while his maternal grandfather, Robert Langton Douglas, was a noted British art critic, giving him a rich cultural heritage. Raised alongside his sister Margaret, Matt attended the North Country School in Lake Placid before graduating from Phillips Academy Andover, demonstrating an early affinity for the arts. He pursued higher education at Princeton University and ultimately earned a Bachelor of Arts in art history and drama from Columbia University, where his academic training laid the groundwork for his future in performance and production.
