Marcus Scribner

Marcus Scribner (born January 7, 2000) is an American actor who rose to prominence through his role as Andre “Junior” Johnson Jr. on the ABC sitcom Black-ish, a part he inhabited for eight seasons before transitioning to the spin‑off Grown‑ish where he also serves as the series narrator. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Scribner’s name reflects classical mythology, echoing the ancient roots of his father Troy and sister Athena, while his personal life includes a beloved dog named Zeus, adopted to mark his first professional acting gig. He began studying acting at the age of seven, taking weekend classes after discovering a passion for performance despite an early shyness and a childhood injury that required five staples after a basketball mishap. By the time he entered kindergarten, Scribner was already balancing school and sport, later playing clarinet in fifth grade and shifting to home schooling in 2015 to accommodate his burgeoning career. His early television credits include guest‑starring roles on Castle, New Girl, Wedding Band and Wendell & Vinnie before landing the pivotal role on Black‑ish at just fourteen, beating out Anthony Anderson’s own son for the part. The performance earned him an NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy during the series’ inaugural season.
