Lodge Kerrigan, born March 23, 1964 in New York City, is a distinguished American film director and screenwriter whose work is celebrated for its stark realism and psychological depth. After earning a B.A. from Columbia University in 1985, Kerrigan entered the independent film scene in the early 1990s, quickly gaining attention with his debut feature Clean, Shaven (1994), which won the Independent Spirit Awards Someone to Watch Award and established his reputation for unsettling, character‑driven narratives. His second film, Claire Dolan (1998), received a nomination for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Director, further cementing his status as a bold storyteller unafraid to explore marginal lives. In 2004, Kerrian’s Keane earned critical praise for its haunting portrait of a man grappling with memory and trauma, demonstrating his evolving mastery of mood and atmosphere. Although his 2010 project Rebecca H. (Return to the Dogs) was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes, it never saw commercial release, yet it underscored his willingness to tackle challenging subject matter.
