John Colicos

John Colicos, a renowned Canadian actor, began his career with the Canadian Art Theatre and the Montreal Repertory Theatre. His talents did not go unnoticed as he was awarded best actor at the 1951 Dominion Drama Festival. His remarkable skill in acting led him to the Old Vic company in England, then to CBC Radio doubling in dramas and finally to television screens on a global scale. His many stage appearances included Mary Stuart at the Phoenix Theatre in New York City, Troilus and Cressida at the Stratford Festival, and King Lear. His television adaptations included Oliver Twist, The Secret Storm, Anne of the Thousand Days, and The Starlost. On American television, John established himself as a leading figure in science-fiction, portraying the first Klingon on the Star Trek franchise, Commander Kor. His role was reprised after a quarter-century in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine between 1994 and 1998. Colicos' continued involvement with science fiction landed him roles in Battlestar Galactica and General Hospital. He was also the voice behind the X-Men villain Apocalypse/En Sabah Nur, and Quinn in the first season of War of the Worlds.
