Jodie Comer (/ˈkoʊmər/ KOH-mər; born 11 March 1993) is an English actress acclaimed for her immensely versatile range. She began her career in an episode of The Royal Today in 2008. Comer gained recognition for appearing in the series My Mad Fat Diary (2013–2015) and Doctor Foster (2015–2017), and achieved significant fame starring in the miniseries Thirteen (2016). From 2018 to 2022, she gained worldwide recognition and critical acclaim playing the character Villanelle, a sociopathic assassin, in the BBC America spy thriller television series Killing Eve. Her riveting performance won her a BAFTA Television Award and a Primetime Emmy Award. In the television film Help (2021), she played Sarah, a healthcare assistant, which earned her another BAFTA Television Award. In 2021, she transitioned to films with main roles in the action comedy film Free Guy and the historical drama The Last Duel. Comer made her West End theatre debut in Suzie Miller's one-woman play Prima Facie in 2022, which won her several prestigious awards including the Evening Standard Theatre Award and the Laurence Olivier Award. Following the play's transfer to Broadway in 2023, she won a Tony Award.
