Ivan Kaye

Ivan Blakeley Kaye (born 1 July 1961) is an English actor and producer whose career spans over three decades, marked by a remarkable versatility that moves fluidly between stage, television, and film. From his early fascination with recreating TV adverts at age two to joining a youth theatre group at eleven, Kaye cultivated a deep well of performance experience, later honed at the University of Kent where he earned a degree in English Literature while appearing in numerous student productions. After a successful West End debut as Willy Wonka in 1980, he amassed a rich theatrical résumé that includes roles at the Royal National Theatre and the Piccadilly Theatre, before transitioning to television in the early 1990s to spend more time with his growing family. His breakthrough international visibility arrived with the portrayal of the Duke of Milan in The Borgias and King Aelle in Vikings, roles that cemented his reputation as a compelling “villain for hire” and showcased his ability to imbue antagonists with nuanced humanity.
