Hank Azaria

Henry Albert "Hank" Azaria, born in New York City on April 25, 1964, is an esteemed American actor. Known for his versatile talent in voice-overs, particularly for his work on the long-running animated sitcom 'The Simpsons' (1989-present), he has won four Primetime Emmy Awards for his contributions. Joining the show with little voice-acting experience, Azaria quickly became a regular from its second season, voicing many beloved characters including Moe Szyslak, Chief Wiggum, and Comic Book Guy, among others. Throughout his career, he has established a compelling on-screen presence, lending his abilities to films such as 'Quiz Show' (1994), 'Heat', 'The Birdcage' (1996), which won him a Screen Actors Guild Award, 'Godzilla' (1998). He has also graced numerous films, including 'Mystery Men' (1999), and 'The Smurfs' (2011-2013). Voice roles in 'Anastasia' (1997) garnered him an Annie Award. His live-action television work includes recurring roles on 'Mad About You' and 'Friends', as well dramatic roles. Greek descendants, Azaria was born to parents Ruth and Albert Azaria. He transitioned from his first name 'Henry' to 'Hank' at a young age, inspired by a pediatrician's recommendation. His acting journey began when he was 17 years old, advertising for Italian television. He continued to hone his craft as a theatrical actor before making the transition to television, realizing the latter offered more opportunities. His distinctive ability to remember and mimic any voice has proved to be a crucial asset in his successful career in animation and beyond. Away from his acting career, Azaria is a dedicated father and a supporter of the Democratic Party, enjoying hobbies such as poker and listening to Elvis Costello.
