Franka Potente

Franka Potente, born July 22 1974, is a renowned German actress. Her acting journey commenced with a comedy movie 'After Five in the Forest Primeval' in 1995 where her outstanding performance fetched her a Bavarian Film Award as Best Young Actress. She shot to fame in 1998 with her stellar performance in the action thriller 'Run Lola Run', which earned her a BAMBI Award for Best Actress. Her critical acclaim further rose with her role in the television film Opernball. From German productions, she successfully transitioned into Hollywood with the biographical crime film Blow in 2001, and gained wider recognition with her roles in The Bourne Identity (2002) and The Bourne Supremacy (2004). She has skillfully portrayed multifaceted characters such as communist revolutionary Tamara Bunke in Che (2008), and psychologist Anita Gregory in The Conjuring 2 (2016). Her career is studded with notable films like Anatomy (2000), The Princess and the Warrior (2000), and Muse (2017). She has also played substantial roles in TV series like Copper (2012–2013), Taboo (2017), and Echo 3. Potente is not only exceptional on the silver screen, but she has also established herself on the small screen. She had recurring roles in the second seasons of 'American Horror Story' and 'The Bridge'. In 2021, she appeared in the fourth season of 'Titans' as Mother Mayhem. After relationships with German film director Tom Tykwer and American actor Elijah Wood, she married American actor Derek Richardson in 2012.
