David Koepp, born on June 9, 1963, is an acclaimed American screenwriter and director. He has gained quite the reputation in Hollywood for his work across various movie genres such as thriller, science fiction, comedy, action, drama, superhero, and adventure, among others. He's the brains behind the scripts of some of the most successful films, with his U.S. box-office hits grossing over $2.3 billion. Koepp's wide-ranging portfolio includes the sci-fi adventure films Jurassic Park (1993), The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008); the crime film Carlito's Way (1993); and the action spy films Mission: Impossible (1996) and Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (2014).

In addition to his screenwriting prowess, Koepp has also stepped behind the camera as a director for a number of feature films, such as The Trigger Effect (1996), Stir of Echoes (1999), Secret Window (2004), Ghost Town (2008), Premium Rush (2012), Mortdecai (2015), and You Should Have Left (2020). He's worked on TV series too, such as the 2002 series Hack starring David Morse. Notably, Koepp's literary endeavors include his debut novel, a science-fiction thriller called Cold Storage, which was published in 2019, with a film adaptation announced in 2022. His next novel, Aurora, was published in 2022.
