Danny Woodburn

Danny Woodburn is an American actor, comedian and disability‑rights activist whose career has spanned over three decades. Born on July 26, 1964 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he grew up in the suburban community of Abington Township and graduated from Abington Senior High School before earning a degree from Temple University’s School of Communications and Theater, where he later received the Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award in 2001. Woodburn first made a name for himself on stage, appearing in productions such as The Indian Wants the Bronx, Scapino, David Mamet’s Revenge of the Space Pandas and the touring company version of Viet Rock, and his New York debut in The Soda Jerk showcased his versatility as a performer. For more than twenty years he has also been a stand‑up comedian, headlining at major clubs including The Improv, the Comedy Store, Gotham Comedy Club, Carolines on Broadway, The Ice House and the Laugh Factory, developing a reputation for sharp wit and an ability to engage diverse audiences. Woodburn’s breakthrough television role came as Mickey Abbott on the multi‑Emmy‑winning sitcom Seinfeld, a character that highlighted his comic timing while challenging stereotypes about little people. He has accumulated over 150 television credits, with recurring parts on Conan the Adventurer (as Otli), Special Unit 2, Passions, The Bold and the Beautiful, Baywatch, Charmed, Bones and numerous guest spots on shows such as CSI, Monk, Jane the Virgin and The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. His film work includes appearances in Jingle All the Way, The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas, Death to Smoochy, Watchmen, Mirror Mirror and the Santa Buddies franchise, and he performed motion‑capture for Splinter in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Beyond acting, Woodburn is a vocal advocate for disabled performers. He serves on the Screen Actors Guild’s Performers with Disabilities Committee, has received the DREAM Award (2009) and the SAG Harold Russell Award (2010), and frequently speaks at conferences such as RespectAbility and the Inclusion Network of Cincinnati. In his personal life he married fellow writer‑comedian Amy Buchwald in 1998, and the couple continues to support each other’s creative endeavors.
