Christopher Sarandon, born July 24, 1942, is an acclaimed American actor known for his versatile career spanning over five decades. Sarandon gained fame for his roles in various successful films such as Jerry Dandrige in Fright Night (1985), Prince Humperdinck in The Princess Bride (1987), Detective Mike Norris in Child's Play (1988) and Jack Skellington in The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993). His performance as Leon Shermer in Dog Day Afternoon (1975) earned a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Sarandon, son of Greek-American restaurateurs Chris and Cliffie Sarandon, was born and raised in Beckley, West Virginia. After graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School, he obtained a degree in speech at West Virginia University and a master's degree in theater from Catholic University of America (CUA). He debuted his professional career in the play 'The Rose Tattoo' during 1965. Alongside his ex-wife Susan Sarandon, Sarandon worked as an actor at the Wayside Theatre. Over the years, he has had a successfully varied journey involving improvisational companies, regional theatre, television roles, Broadway, and film. He reprised the role of Jack Skellington in Disney/Square video games Kingdom Hearts and attractions such as the Haunted Mansion Holiday. He also had a recurring role in NBC's medical drama ER. In more recent years, he has performed in the Broadway musical 'The Light in the Piazza' and the Off-Broadway production 'Preludes' and sits on the advisory board for the Greenbrier Valley Theatre.
