Chiwetel Umeadi Ejiofor CBE (born 10 July 1977) is a British actor, screenwriter, and film director. Well-recognized for his excellent acting skills, Ejiofor has received various accolades, including a British Academy Film Award and a Laurence Olivier Award in addition to nominations for an Academy Award, two Primetime Emmy Awards, three Screen Actors Guild Awards, and five Golden Globe Awards. For his immense contribution to the arts, the Queen declared him the Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2008 and later upgraded his rank to the Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2015 Birthday Honours.
Ejiofor's acting career started with a supporting role in Steven Spielberg's Amistad (1997) and skyrocketed after his BAFTA-award-winning portrayal of Solomon Northup in 12 Years a Slave (2013). He is also known for his impressive performances in movies like Dirty Pretty Things, Love Actually, Kinky Boots and more. Recently, he is seen embracing the Marvel Cinematic Universe playing Karl Mordo in Doctor Strange (2016) and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022). His numerous contributions also extend to the small screen with remarkable performances in the BBC Two miniseries Dancing on the Edge and HBO's Phil Spector.
