Anna Paquin is a highly acclaimed New Zealand actress. Born on 24 July 1982, she made her acting debut in the romantic drama film The Piano in 1993 and won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress at age 11, making her the second-youngest winner in Oscar history. As a child actress, she had notable roles in Fly Away Home (1996), Jane Eyre (1996), Amistad (1997), and many more. Paquin continued to perform into adulthood and notably portrayed Rogue in the X-Men franchise. Her other big-screen credits include The Good Dinosaur and The Irishman. On TV, she played the lead role of Sookie Stackhouse in the HBO series True Blood, for which she won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in 2009. Apart from her Golden Globe win, she also received an Emmy nomination for her work in the TV film 'Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee' and another Golden Globe nomination for 'The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler'.

She was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and her early life was marked by several relocations including a move to New Zealand in 1986 and the United States in her teens. After a brief academic stint at Columbia College, she dropped out to focus on her acting career. Her career made a splendid start when out of 5000 candidates, she was chosen to play the main role in The Piano which won her the prestigious Academy Award. Despite not planning to pursue acting initially, she continued to receive offers and had a steady stream of roles in different films and commercials. Her success story further established with the X-Men series, HBO series True Blood and several other milestone roles. Her personal life is also quite eventful, being married to her True Blood co-star Stephen Moyer and being the mother to twins.
