Who Killed Captain Alex? 2010

Captain Alex, Kakule William, is one of the Uganda People’s Defence Force’s most decorated officers. He is dispatched to dismantle the Tiger Mafia, a ruthless criminal organization that dominates Kampala’s drug trade. He establishes a forward post in the dusty, tight-knit village of Wakaliga, a move that immediately shifts the balance of power in the area. His arrival stirs curiosity and unease among the locals, as the disciplined unit marches through narrow streets and past colorful storefronts. A night at a local bar turns tense when soldiers clash with villagers; Alex steps in with measured authority, breaks up the fight, and orders his men to retreat, signaling that he prefers calculated moves over impulsive force.

During a precision operation, Alex and his team zero in on a Tiger Mafia drug deal and manage to infiltrate the operation from within. The ensuing confrontation is chaotic and brutal, and in the chaos Richard’s brother is captured, a personal strike that tightens the gang’s resolve. Richard berates his men, then shoots his wife Ritah, Nakyambadde Prossy in a moment of furious rage, and swears revenge against Alex. He also orders a spy to seduce Alex in his tent and dispatches the rest of the mafia to capture him later that night. But before the night’s plan can unfold fully, an unknown shooter strikes, and Alex is felled by an unseen source, leaving the mafia and his soldiers in disarray and mourning a fallen commander.

The next dawn brings the arrival of Captain Alex’s brother, a Ugandan shaolin monk known to locals as Bruce U, a colorful and determined figure played by Bukenya Charles. Bruce arrives in Kampala with a clear mission: to find the killer and avenge his brother. He retrieves a Tiger Mafia card from Alex’s tent and proceeds to a shaolin temple, where he faces a sequence of martial challenges until the temple master appears and declines to intervene, insisting that Bruce must forge his own path to vengeance. Undeterred, Bruce retreats to a forest to train, sleeping in a tree and pushing his body and mind to the limit. In the midst of his solitary quest, he encounters Ritah once more, the woman who has amnesia after being shot; though wary at first, he joins forces with her. As their bond deepens, a crucial tattoo on Ritah reveals her affiliation with the mafia, and she regains her memory, agreeing to guide Bruce to the base where the Tiger Mafia operates.

Back in the capital, the UPDF appoints a new military commander who quickly devises a bold plan to strike the mafia’s stronghold. The plan, however, is overheard by Richard through the phone of a turncoat police officer, turning intelligence into a dangerous game of cat and mouse. Richard mobilizes his forces and coordinates a counterattack, while the mafia steers its resources toward a dramatic distraction that could shift the balance of power in Kampala. He orders one of his men to seize an attack helicopter, intending to bomb Kampala as a calculated distraction designed to cripple the government’s response and buy the mafia time to regroup.

Bruce launches a daring raid on the base, fighting his way through the fortified compound, but is ultimately captured and brought before Richard. The tyrant commands three of his men to test their combat prowess against the intruder, and for a time Bruce holds his own with a blend of martial skill and stubborn resolve. The ensuing chaos escalates as the UPDF intervenes, bombing the base with a helicopter and forcing the mafia into a retreat through the surrounding forest, where old loyalties are tested and lines are redrawn.

In the forest’s brutal, muddy aftermath, the Tiger Mafia is largely eliminated, and Richard remains as the last operative standing. He strips a pistol from a fallen comrade, shoots or disables a number of soldiers, and even threatens the government helicopter before he is finally shot and captured. With Kampala under martial law and the city’s nerves frayed, the immediate threat from the Tiger Mafia is quelled, yet the mystery of Captain Alex’s killer remains unsolved, leaving a haunting residue over the mission’s controversial end. The city breathes a cautious sigh as order—fragile and hard-won—settles over the streets, and the tale closes on the unresolved question of justice and memory in a city forever shaped by violence and resilience.
