K. Madasamy alias Ajay, a young man from Theni, heads to Chennai with a simple plan: start a job and build a future in the big city. At the same time, Anjali Rajamohan, a photographer from London, arrives in the same city to document South Indian culture on camera. Fate pushes them toward trouble when they cross paths with a crafty real estate broker, Narayanan, who rents out vacant houses without ever informing the owners. Believing they’ve found a place, Ajay and Anjali each hand over rent money and end up signing for the same house, a mix-up that leaves them stuck sharing a roof while they hunt for Narayanan.

With no other options, the two decide to stick together until they can sort out the housing issue. Laughter, arguments, and a steady stream of petty squabbles fill their days, yet underneath the friction, a quiet attraction begins to bloom. Ajay finds himself drawn to Anjali, but he keeps his feelings tucked away, unsure of how to bridge the distance between affection and pride. A day-trip to Theni only deepens the confusion, as Anjali’s reactions—unlike what Ajay hoped for—suggest she doesn’t share his feelings, leaving him mired in disappointment and self-doubt.

Determined to fix his life and their situation, Ajay later tracks down Narayanan, who he had encountered by chance earlier and who holds the key to their misery. He slips Narayanan’s address from his wallet and confronts him, blaming the broker for the tangled web that brought Ajay to this point—and for making him believe he could not live without Anjali’s love. Narayanan, ever the schemer, steps in with a risky plan: he appears at the house pretending to be Ajay’s friend, “Billa Senthil,” and tries to orchestrate a setup where Anjali would fall for Ajay. His misdirection, however, only adds layers of misunderstanding to an already fragile situation.

Meanwhile, Anjali’s fiancé, Deepak, makes an appearance, offering a familiar counterpoint to the emotional chaos. Narayanan continues his efforts to push Ajay and Anjali together, but his schemes miss their mark time and again, leaving both of them frustrated and suspicious of the other’s motives.

On the night of Anjali’s birthday, the weight of unspoken love and mounting disappointments drives Ajay to drink, and the moment leaves him vulnerable. Anjali, witnessing his posturing and intoxicated behavior, feels a sting of betrayal—even as she begins to realize her own true feelings for him. The very next day, a cruel twist of fate unfolds at a wedding—her colleague’s wedding—where others mistake her for the bride and she plays along, thinking she has found a moment of happiness. Just as Ajay and Anjali are about to speak truth to each other, Narayanan phones in with new tenants and a cheeky offer of a cut of the deal, triggering a fatal misinterpretation. Anjali assumes Ajay is part of Narayanan’s plot, and she lashes out in anger, leaving the wedding hall with a sense of unfinished business and heartbreak.

Three months drift by before Anjali returns to London and triumphs in a photography contest. A friend named Deepak reveals that Narayanan told him everything from the start and that Ajay is innocent. This revelation rekindles her belief in their love, and Deepak’s honesty helps her see that her willingness to visit Theni and even pose as Ajay’s wife while engaged to Deepak proves the depth of her feelings for him. Reinvigorated, Anjali returns to Chennai to find Ajay, only to discover his absence at first. Then, unexpectedly, Ajay appears at the door with a crucial clue: his passport, a symbol of his readiness to move forward—and perhaps to move on if needed.

They meet, and the initial anger fades as they open up about the past three months. Anjali questions why he didn’t come to her in London, and Ajay explains that he had just secured his passport and planned to head to the airport. The moment intensifies into a heartfelt reconciliation, a tender embrace that seems to promise a new start. Yet before the moment can settle, Narayanan arrives with a potential tenant, intent on continuing his ruse. The couple acts in unison, stopping Narayanan and delivering a decisive punch to the man who tried to pull them apart.

In the end, the film threads together themes of trust, perception, and perseverance, presenting a romance that survives miscommunication and manipulation through resilience, honesty, and a shared commitment to one another.
