The film follows İlyas, a truck driver from Istanbul who travels to a rural village to work on a dam project. When his truck gets stuck on a muddy dirt road, he meets Asya, a local woman he nicknames Al Yazmalım (the red scarf). They fall in love, marry, and have a child named Samet.

One day, while stopping to help stranded bystanders, he is delayed and ends up being fired. Realising his mistake, he returns home only to find that Asya and his child have left.

Asya and Samet are wandering by the road when they hitchhike on the back of a truck with a kind stranger Cemşit.
