As the documentary crew captures the performance, the younger troupe members, under Sannasi’s leadership, keep the rhythm alive, balancing discipline with the longing to keep their craft authentic.

Times are hard, and the ensemble seizes a chance to perform in the Andaman Islands for a princely fee. Yet the promise of money quickly soured as the sponsors’ tastes reveal a troubling priority: the presence and attention of the women become the real attraction, not the dance itself. The tour collapses under misused incentives, the hotel ejects them, and an event manager seizes back the tickets as Sooravali faces harassment and the troupe’s dignity is tested on every level. With finances strained, they turn to manual labor at a construction site to keep the dream alive. To keep the voyage afloat, Sooravali resolves to dance her way home, pushing herself to the brink of exhaustion and blood loss, driven by a stubborn will to survive and to return to those she loves.

Back home, humiliation and continued hardship greet them. Sooravali’s marriage becomes a wrenching turn in the narrative: a seemingly respectable proposal from a man named Karuppaiah, who paints himself as steady and secure, a government job holder with a decent salary. Sannasi initially lashes out, defending the troupe’s autonomy, but his sister or elder family members plead, and he reluctantly accepts the alliance to support Sooravali. After the wedding, the troupe presses on, but the loss of their central star jeopardizes their appeal. Sannasi scrambles for a replacement and is forced to perform at a funeral, a grim assignment that tests his artistic integrity and his pride. Saamipulavan, who has long chafed at what he sees as his son’s adulteration of the art, voices bitter judgment, and a rift opens between father and son. The clash marks a turning point: art’s sanctity versus the harsh realities of survival.

A moment of triumph finally comes when Saamipulavan is invited to sing before high-ranking officials, including the Governor of Australia. His performance is celebrated, vindicating him after years of obscurity and struggle. He returns home believing the family has found some stability, but the moment of relief is short-lived. He collapses, coughing, and passes away, leaving the troupe to confront a deeper ache about what the art has cost them.

After the funeral, Sooravali’s mother reveals a shocking truth to Sannasi: Karuppaiah’s darker side—his lies about a government job, his temper, and his control over the women who run brothels—has upended Sooravali’s life. Sooravali herself has vanished, and the truth about her whereabouts unsettles everyone. The search leads to an unfamiliar house where Sooravali is revealed to be trapped in a coercive arrangement. Karuppaiah is not the decent husband he claimed to be; he is a pimp who uses deception and coercion, and he has forced Sooravali into a perilous arrangement intended to fulfill the wishes of a powerful patron.

Desperate, Sannasi tracks Sooravali down, confronting a web of danger. He learns that Karuppaiah has manipulated the circumstances to secure Sooravali’s use as a surrogate for a wealthy man whose astrologer predicted the birth of a female heir on a precise day and time. When Karuppaiah and his men ambush him, a brutal struggle ensues. Sannasi fights to protect Sooravali’s life and to uncover the truth behind the demanded birth. In the ensuing confrontation, Sannasi defeats Karuppaiah and ends the threat, but the price of rescue is steep: a second, fatal confrontation at the hospital where a clandestine C-section is performed by a mortuary technician under Karuppaiah’s orders.

Sannasi storms the hospital, defeats Karuppaiah’s enforcers, and discovers Sooravali in a perilous state. He tries to wake her, only to learn that she has died as the illicit operation continues. Grief torments him, but a glimmer of hope remains—the baby she carried survives the cesarean. With a heart heavy with sorrow and resolve, Sannasi collects the newborn and returns home, carrying the weight of a love tested by exploitation, violence, and loss, yet bearing a fragile beacon of life for the troupe’s future. The story ends on a note of quiet endurance, highlighting the enduring power of art and family even in the face of brutal injustice.
