Arrival at Ardennes base camp

The students arrive at the Ardennes forest and set up at the base camp under the supervision of teachers Jochem Damstra and Madge Johnson. They are divided into teams to tackle various tasks during the active week-long study trip. As the days begin, tensions rise as personal dynamics and competition surface.

Unwelcome romance and rivalries

Barry Hartveld joins the trip unofficially and flirts with Lana van Hamel, which Nassim Gharbi quickly dislikes. When their relationship is discovered, Nassim confronts Barry, and the moment highlights the fragile social balance among the students. The episode foreshadows the emotional hurdles that will complicate teamwork.

Tobias's pranks and Flip's tension

Tobias instigates pranks and bullying toward Flip, including discarding a stuffed toy connected to Irmak Sertkaya and emptying honey into someone’s bag. The antics strain group morale and reveal a sharp rivalry between the twins. Flip and Tobias' antagonism threatens the cooperative spirit of the study trip.

The dropping competition begins

Two teams are formed for the 'dropping' exercise, a centerpiece of the week’s tasks. The challenge tests cooperation, navigation, and problem-solving under uncertain conditions. As the competition unfolds, weather and nerves push the teams to their limits.

Tobias sabotages a clue

During the drop, Tobias secretly changes a clue, causing the other group to become lost. The altered clue forces them to improvise under mounting pressure and weather concerns. The misdirection escalates the danger and tests each team's resilience.

The lost group spends a night in a cave

Flip, Avalanche Blokland, Annabella Vermeulen and Luxor de Haan become separated from the rest and take refuge in a cave for the night. They endure cold and uncertainty while the rest of the group tries to locate them. The night ordeal strengthens their resolve to rely on one another.

Flip’s arm injury and the sling

During the night, Flip falls and hears a crack in his arm. Tobias seems to sense Flip’s pain in a strange, almost paranormal way, heightening the tension between the twins. Luxor later confirms the injury is dislocated, and a sling is fashioned from Marjana El Asmi's headscarf to stabilize it.

With the arm stabilized, Flip’s group braces for the morning. In daylight, the weather improves, and they begin to head back toward base camp. Luxor, who had previously copied the clue during preparations, uses that duplicate to interpret the route correctly and guide the group.

The next morning, the improved weather allows safe progress toward the base camp. The group follows Luxor’s interpreted clue, regaining their bearings and moving closer to safety. The shared relief underscores the value of teamwork under pressure.

Tobias’s raft search and river danger

Meanwhile, the Tobias-led group launches a raft to search for the missing teammates. The Ardennes river remains treacherous due to the night’s precipitation, complicating the rescue effort. The stakes rise as the distance between groups persists.

The raft overturns and Fay’s near-drowning

Moments later, the raft overturns in the rough currents, putting Fay in serious danger. She is quickly resuscitated, and the group rallies to keep everyone safe. The incident demonstrates how quickly a daylight adventure can become life-threatening.
