Antonio Banderas as Eddie Deacon, a former Marine Corps Security Captain, steps into a job as a mall security guard and quickly becomes the steady, protective center of a tight-knit team: Liam McIntyre as Vance, Gabriella Wright as Ruby, Chad Lindberg as Mason, and Jiro Wang as Johnny. Meanwhile, a US Marshal convoy transporting a girl named Jamie is ambushed by mercenaries. Katherine de la Rocha as Jamie escapes and seeks refuge at the mall.

Mercenary leader Ben Kingsley as Charlie arrives with a brash demand to retrieve Jamie, offering bribes to the guards. Eddie refuses, and Charlie warns that he and their families will be executed if Jamie isn’t delivered.

To defend the mall, Eddie and the guards rig the space with homemade bombs and traps. They stall the mercenaries and hold their ground through a tense, brutal fight; Johnny is killed by a sniper while signaling for police, and Ruby is mortally wounded while trying to help Vance escape. As more US Marshals arrive, Eddie notices the mercenary tattoo on their necks and takes them down. Mason is killed, and Vance is badly wounded and presumed dead.

Determined to get Jamie to safety, Eddie sends her to radio for help. He is then ambushed by Charlie’s second-in-command Dead Eyes, Cung Le. Eddie disables the mercenaries’ radio jammer with a trike kept inside the mall and then defeats Dead Eyes and the sniper using a pistol that Vance had hidden in his car. Charlie eventually finds Jamie in the mall, but she shocks him with a taser, and Eddie finishes Charlie with a headshot from Vance’s pistol.

Police arrive to secure Jamie’s safety, and the truth comes out: Vance is alive. Jamie tells Eddie that his daughter is lucky to have a father like him, and the film closes on a tender reunion as Eddie is finally reunited with his wife and daughter.
