Cynical American travel journalist Pete McKell boards a crocodile watching river cruise in Kakadu National Park, Northern Australia, along with a diverse group of tourists. This gathering includes a local family and several couples, setting the stage for an adventurous outing.

While on the cruise, Everett spots a flare in the distance, prompting Kate, the tour guide, to take the group on a detour to investigate. The atmosphere shifts as curiosity builds about who could be in distress.

Boat Crash Incident

As they navigate the river, the group's boat is suddenly struck by something forceful, causing damage and prompting Kate to run the boat ashore on a small island. This marks the beginning of their struggle for survival.

During discussions on their predicament, a sudden incident occurs when Everett disappears, pulled under by an unseen predator lurking in the water. The group realizes they have ventured into dangerous territory, increasing the tension among them.

Rising Tide and Dangers

As the afternoon progresses, the tourists become aware that the tide is rising and their small island will soon be submerged. This alarming realization adds pressure to their already perilous situation.

Crocodile Attack on Another Boat

Neil and Collin arrive on the island but soon find themselves in peril as the gigantic crocodile attacks and demolishes their boat. Neil swims to safety, but Collin goes missing, heightening fears among the group.

In a desperate attempt to divert the crocodile, Pete devises a plan to bait it using dead birds secured to an anchor. The plan is risky, but it represents their last chance to escape the island before it is completely submerged.
