Pushing Daisies follows the enchanting life of Ned, a talented pie-maker endowed with the extraordinary ability to bring the deceased back to life with a simple touch. However, his gift comes with a peculiar consequence: if he revives someone for more than a minute, a nearby living person or object loses a “life value” and dies suddenly, creating a delicate balance that Ned must carefully maintain. Worse still, if Ned touches a revived individual a second time, they are gone forever, a fact that haunts and complicates his life.

From a young age, Ned experiences the emotional toll of his powers. When his mother dies unexpectedly of an aneurysm, Ned resurrects her, setting off a chain of tragic events that results in the death of his neighbor and childhood sweetheart, Charlotte “Chuck” Charles, played by Anna Friel.
