Meanwhile, teenage siblings Harrison Kaye and his sister Molly are reluctantly ferried into the trip with their parents Rick and Diane, and their grandmother Grandma. The family tries to settle in as Molly lingers by the dock, reading and dipping her feet in the water, her calm curiosity clashing with the anxious mood of the adults. In a bid to warn others, [Dawn] arrives with crucial information about a fireworks festival planned for later in the day. Harrison and Dawn set out to warn people as fear gives way to urgent action. Back on shore, Rick and Diane are viciously attacked again; Rick loses two fingers in a brutal bite, and Diane lights a flare to guide the rescuers. The flare draws Molly, Curtis, and Jones toward the scene, where Rick and Diane manage to retreat to shore with injuries that will test their endurance. Jones manages to kill one shark, but he pays with his life when another monster swallows him in a moment of brutal misfortune.

Molly proves to be the most effective of the group, killing another shark and joining Rick, Diane, and Curtis on a mission to track down Harrison. They manage to reach Jones’s car, and their search becomes a frantic race against time as the six sharks continue to roam the lake. Molly, Curtis, Rick, and Diane return to lend aid, and a new plan coalesces: lure a shark into a machine that can tear it apart.
