Swapna, Aarti Chabria, an NRI visiting India with her grandfather, crosses paths with Kameshwar Rao Jr. Srikanth on a post-graduation pilgrimage to Kasi, at the request of his grandmother. When they introduce themselves at a railway station, they lie about their names, presenting themselves as Rahul and Subba Lakshmi. Swapna and her grandfather hurry to relatives’ home, before Swapna can tell Rahul, but she slips a note into Rahul’s wallet before leaving. At the relatives’ house, Swapna learns her engagement is being arranged, which upsets her; her father [Devan] arrives to halt it after learning the relatives cheated Swapna’s family on business, an incident that had already contributed to the cardiac arrest of Swapna’s uncle.

After a year, Kamesh is ready to seek love again and decides to go to the United States. He secures a job as an engineer at a software company to obtain a work permit, and travels to the US.
