In the city, he stays with his elder sister, who remains estranged from their parents after having eloped to marry. To fund his plan, he pays a Tamil Nadu agent in Mumbai for a UAE visa, only to discover that the agent is a fraud. Not willing to return empty-handed, he reconnects with his childhood friend, Chandru, who lives a comfortable life in the city. Initially hesitant to introduce him to his boss, the feared Supari, Chandru ultimately guides Karunakaran into the gang world, and Karunakaran accepts the path out of necessity.

During a pivotal moment of terror that shakes Mumbai, he saves Nisha, and she falls in love with him for his bravery.
