Vijay traces Chandramukhi's history to a 125-year-old tragedy involving King Nagabhairava and the dancer Chandramukhi. He learns Nagabhairava murdered her lover Gunashekaran and burned Chandramukhi, who vows revenge. The sorcerer warns that the door must never be opened, lest the spirit be freed again.

A century later: the room is opened again

A hundred years after the original tragedy, Ganga opens Chandramukhi's sealed room and unknowingly frees her spirit. Chandramukhi flees in the form of a serpent toward Thanjavur, rekindling the danger that plagues the Rao family.

Nagabhairava believed to be alive

Vijay discovers that Nagabhairava is still alive, living in a cave and wielding black magic, suggesting that the threat remains potent and nearby. This discovery reframes the haunting as a centuries-spanning feud rather than a simple haunting.

Gowri possessed; journey to Thanjavur

Chandramukhi's spirit possesses Gowri when she reaches Chandramukhi's house in Thanjavur and mourns Gunashekaran. The Rao family realizes the true target may be Nagabhairava, not Gayathri, as Gowri sinks deeper into the legend.
