Foundations of Bhavana Studio and village life

In the Prakash region of Idukki, Mahesh works as a small-time photographer while his father Vincent runs Bhavana Studio. Beside them, Baby operates a busy flex-board printing shop with Crispin handling the design work that brings the boards to life. The studio and shop form the familiar backdrop against which village life, ambition, and art intersect.

The village confrontation and Mahesh's vow

A petty argument in the village center escalates into a clash as Crispin storms against the other man. Jimson enters the scene and Mahesh tries to de-escalate, but Vincent intervenes and Mahesh is humiliated in the process. The humiliation hardens his resolve: he vows to beat Jimson and to wear slippers again only after that goal is achieved.

Soumya's departure and heartbreak

Following the confrontation, Mahesh’s longtime girlfriend Soumya ends their relationship and marries an NRI nurse. Motivated by his father’s words, Mahesh studies his father’s photograph collection to understand angles and lighting. A budding connection with Jimsy

Jimsy arrives at Mahesh’s home with the magazine, chastising him for shooting without permission but praising the image. Jimson's deportation and the challenge to settle scores

Weeks later, Jimson is fired for slapping a supervisor and deported back to India. The deportation acts as a catalyst, and Mahesh and Baby prepare to settle old scores with a direct confrontation. The looming clash becomes the centerpiece of the film’s escalation.

The next day, Mahesh and Baby challenge Jimson to a hand-to-hand battle to settle their scores. After a tense exchange, Mahesh gains the upper hand and pins Jimson, with Baby declaring him the winner. The victory marks a turning point in Mahesh’s personal and artistic journey.
