The sense of fate and danger thickens as the team tumbles into events that blur the line between waking life and omen.

A thick mist descends the next morning, shrouding equipment and dampening morale as the crew advances through the fog. They follow Yenny, the daughter of Sam’s landlord, into a terrain where the Kuntilanak’s reach feels both distant and intimate. Yenny disappears at the mouth of a cave, and the group splits to cover more ground, only to encounter a string of terrorizing and unexplainable occurrences. In a moment of crisis, Samantha finds herself drawn toward a cave, where a haunting truth emerges. The expedition survives the night and emerges with a dire warning: Samantha must seek out Mbah Putri, the elder figure tied to the origin of the Kuntilanak’s wangsit within the Mangkoedjiwo family.

The narrative reveals itself as a road to truth rather than a straightforward hunt. Samantha, now convinced that they are in the realm of old powers, asserts that they have reached Ujung Sedo. Yet the forest itself tests them: Herman is ensnared by a Kuntilanak haunting and sinks into quicksand, forcing the others to push on with a heavier sense of duty. The group stumbles into a ghostly village where a cow carcass lies near a crying baby, and Petra makes a fateful decision to take the child despite warnings. Night brings further peril as the baby vanishes and Petra becomes a target of a Kuntilanak attack. Asti, Darwin, and Samantha race to find her, while Samantha encounters Yenny again and is drawn into a field where fallen leaves drift like whispers. There, she witnesses a disturbing scene: blind children chasing a white horse, a vision that hints at the Kuntilanak’s macabre appetite for souls.

In a sequence that tightens the suspense, Samantha and Yenny flee as Darwin, having witnessed the creature, takes his own life after a sinister enchantment. As the convoy moves toward Mbah Putri’s home, Asti pledges solidarity with Samantha if they can survive the dangers ahead. The two eventually reach the dwelling of Mbah Putri, where the elder woman confronts Samantha with a history that stretches back a century. The Kuntilanak is revealed to be the vengeful offspring of a mother who died after bearing the devil’s child, a pact bound to immortality through the Mangkoedjiwo line. Mbah Putri, who has carried the burden of this legacy, composes the Durmo—an ancient chant—intended to summon the Kuntilanak. Samantha, together with the descendants of Mangkoedjiwo, begins to sing, and the creature grows stronger by tapping into the souls of murdered victims kept within the maternal womb.

The tension peaks as the wangsit cannot be banished while the child remains alive, and a chilling twist emerges: Sam’s earlier encounter with Mega was an illusion crafted by Mbah Putri to lure Samantha toward Ujung Sedo and plant her as a future host. With the Durmo sung, the Kuntilanak is unleashed more fully, and the demon’s child crawls toward Sam’s own womb. Faced with a fate that could bind her to the forest’s curse, Samantha guides Yenny toward the rescue point, and she climbs to a waterfall, choosing a daring sacrifice: she leaps, intending that the child die with her.

The rescue mission continues on a hopeful arc as Asti, Yenny, and the other captives head toward the rescue point, where a helicopter eventually descends to save them. In the closing image, a hand—possibly Samantha’s—emerges from beneath the stones near the waterfall, hinting at whether the battle against the Kuntilanak’s wangsit has truly ended or merely begun. The forest’s encroaching mist and the lingering sense of unfinished business leave a quiet, unresolved echo as daylight returns to the trees.
